ABOUT US

The Rochester/Monroe County Domestic Violence Consortium

The Rochester/Monroe County Domestic Violence Consortium (DVC), in existence since 1982, is comprised solely of volunteer individuals and agencies that work together to ensure survivor safety and promote offender accountability.

The Consortium achieves its goals through a process by which multiple member agencies convene regularly. The commitment to our work is driven by the recognition that, when attempting to influence and change community systems, many voices speaking and acting together are stronger than one. This concept, termed a Coordinated Community Response, is at the Consortium’s core.

We are governed by an elected Executive Board and are accountable to our members, who pay a minimal annual fee to join the Consortium and sit on at least one committee. Current active committees include Criminal Justice, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Education, Legislative Advocacy and Offender Accountability. The By Laws and Membership Committees meet on an ad hoc basis to strengthen our structure and ensure a solid base.

Committees are led by an elected Chair or Co-Chairs and generally meet once a month. General Consortium meetings are held quarterly and provide a forum for members to vote on various issues, network with peers and, every two years, elect new Board members. The Consortium, in effect, is you.

The DVC has undergone many changes and iterations over the years, but one thing remains the same: an unyielding dedication to raising domestic violence awareness, working together to find solutions for survivors and ensuring offender accountability.

If you are a direct service organization in health care, advocacy, law enforcement, the legal community, family systems or public health, we need you to strengthen and solidify our commitment to eradicating domestic violence.

Please consider adding your voice to ours. Join the DVC!
